A piece of maritime history ~
The ship's chronometer!
This clock is solid and heavy at
6 pounds. Beautiful beveled glass crystal allows easy telling of time from
some distance. Big digits and also the 24 hour numbers beside the hours 1-12
(see photo). Big red sweep second hand. The clock face is a almost 6"
diameter, the overall depth of clock and porthole is 2 3/8". Distance across
back of solid brass porthole is 8 3/4". A beautiful quartz working piece of
maritime history. Back opens just like any standard porthole window would to
be able to change the clock battery (AA battery not included). This would be
a very distinguishing gift for someone's den or study, or nice addition to a
collection. Mounts by utilizing one, or all, counter sunk holes around rim
of porthole with brass screws for best effect.
