This large engine order telegraph measures 46-1/2" tall, with handles upright. When placed on the floor the
wooden handles are right at your fingertips. Round solid brass housing is 10" wide. Base is 9
inches in
diameter. This terrific, old-world ships telegraph device, provided a time
saving communication link between the pilothouse and the ships' engine room.
This is an exceptionally high quality solid polished brass working replica
weighing in at over 55 pounds!
Both levers are moveable and all the normal telegraph markings are visible
and readable. Heavy cast gearing and bells. Also equipped with detents; to
hold the handles at each order position. When lever is moved to an order, those heavy
bells make the classic "ding" sound. Very crisp tone. This type of
telegraph was dedicated to a twin engine, as both handles move independently
of one another. This is a high quality handmade item, having some minor
variations in the finish, suitable for most collectors. A real treasure to
behold!
